Position Summary
The Part-Time Operations Associate, Hawk Shop Brantford, is committed to providing superior customer service, providing product and service information to the Brantford campus community. They will also support and provide Onecard services to the Brantford campus community, producing and replacing student & staff Onecards. The individual will be a self-motivated, proactive individual with strong self-management and interpersonal skills.
Reporting to the Manager, Operations & Sales, the incumbent supports the day-to-day operation of the Hawk Shop Brantford, including opening and closing procedures. They will be accountable for providing front line customer service, preparing web pickup orders, OneCard administration, receiving inventory, and stocking and merchandising products under the guidance of the coordinator.
Accountabilities
Store Operations
- Occasional opening and closing duties of the Hawk Shop, Brantford.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and ensure cash floats are balanced, making adjustments as required – attention to detail is paramount
- Monitor, process, fill and ship all e-commerce orders for textbooks, general merchandise and trade books
- Receives regular deliveries and merchandise transfers, ensure merchandise is accurately recorded and stocked on the sales floor in a timely manner
- Assists and supports year-end inventory processes
Customer Experience
- Provide exceptional customer service. Modelling a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards customers at all times
- Responds to customer requests and works closely with Coordinator the Hawk Shop, Brantford to ensure all customer inquiries are handled in a timely manner
- Supports the Coordinator in providing support to the Brantford campus faculty, providing information related to course material adoptions
- Occasional communication with the Hawk Shop Waterloo team to support needs of the Hawk Shop Brantford.
- Produce and replace OneCards for students/staff & Conestoga students on the Brantford Campus, tracking daily card prints by category
Merchandising, Sales & Stock Management
- In consultation with Coordinator, Hawk Shop Brantford, creative merchandising of all in-store displays and street-front windows in accordance with annual marketing and merchandising plan
- Organize all merchandise areas of the Hawk Shop to ensure prominent placement of relevant merchandise
Qualifications
- 2-3 years related experience in a retail operation, previous Hawk Shop experience is preferred
- Excellent customer service and communication skills including appropriate use of tact and diplomacy
- Knowledge of various university related technologies such as ShopLaurier, Webprint, Loris, Onecard, considered an asset
- Ability to problem-solve and deal with customer concerns and inquires on a daily basis
- Understanding of policies and procedures that relate to customer service
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of software such as MS Office Professional XP (Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge and experience with retail inventory control systems and e-commerce sites
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing interests, projects, and deadlines to fulfill commitments
- Strong organizational skills
- Flexible availability required to support events, pop ups, fairs
- Occasional requests to work off Brantford Campus possible
Hours of Work: This is a 10 month limited term part-time role. The normal hours of work are 15-25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility in hours will be required, including evening and/or weekend work due to special events or extend hours at the beginning of term. When possible, the manager will adjust the work schedule so that no more than 25 hours are worked in a week.This role requires daily in person attendance and is not eligible for a flexible work arrangement as per Policy 8.14 (Flexible Work Policy).
Compensation:
Level: A
Rate of Pay: $28.52 to $30.16 per hour with an annual step progression on anniversary date up to $32.59 per hour. Considerations for new hire step placements include qualifications and length/depth of required experience, relevant market rates for similar jobs, internal equity, and estimated learning curve in starting the job.
