The Youth and Children’s Studies Program at Wilfrid Laurier University invites applications for two twelve-month Limited Term Appointments at the Assistant Professor level in the history of children and youth beginning September 1, 2025, subject to budgetary approval.
The Youth and Children’s Studies Program is located on Laurier’s Brantford campus with a Minor in Youth and Children’s Studies offered at both the Brantford and Waterloo campuses. This position requires teaching courses offered in Brantford and Waterloo.
The successful candidates will:

Have experience teaching both large and small classes at the undergraduate level

Be familiar with using instructional technologies such as My Learning Space (D2L) and Zoom
-
Demonstrate knowledge of effective and engaging pedagogies using a learner-centred approach as it pertains to the course content and requirements
The successful candidates will each be asked to teach five of the following courses:
1. YC200: Youth and Children Through the Ages (Brantford and Waterloo)
2. YC201: Research Methods: Youth and Children (Brantford only)
3. YC/SOJE 326: Children, Toys, & Media (Brantford only)
4. YC/SOJE430: Youth Cultures (Brantford only)
5. YC310: Adoption Past and Present (Brantford and Waterloo)
6. YC350: Special Topics in Youth and Children’s Studies (Brantford only)
7. HI375: Seeking Justice, Family, and the Law (Brantford only)
8. YC350: Special Topics – Turning Points in Education (Brantford only)
