1-Year Limited Term Appointment – Psychology

 

The Department of Psychology invites applications for a 1-year Limited Term Appointment at the Assistant Professor level beginning July 1, 2026, subject to budgetary approval. The primary campus for this position is the Milton campus, with the possibility of teaching responsibilities at the nearby Waterloo campus through in person or virtual delivery.

 

The successful applicant will be expected to teach within the following substantive areas: Community Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and/or Personality Psychology.

 

Anticipated Salary Range: $90,000 to $130,000.  Actual salary to be commensurate with experience. 

 

Qualifications:

 

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a PhD in Psychology or a closely related field with a background in Community Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Personality and/or Social Psychology, or a related field consistent with the teaching needs listed above or have a confirmed defense date for such a degree before September 1, 2026. We seek a qualified scholar with a record of excellence in university teaching and service. Evidence of an ongoing program of research in Psychology, and interest in student training are essential requirements for this position.

 

The candidate must have a passion for psychology education and student success. The successful candidate is also expected to have a demonstrated commitment to service to the University and the academic community, and to scholarly and/or professional activity. Responsibilities:

 

The responsibilities of the position will include:

 

  • Teaching up to five one-term undergraduate courses per year in Psychology.
  • Engaging students in innovative and effective teaching methods, including experiential learning.
  • Advising and mentoring students in their academic and career pursuits.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and university service activities.
  • Pursuing scholarly activities in a substantive area of Psychology, which may include scholarship related to teaching and pedagogy.

The Department of Psychology includes more than 30 full‑time faculty members conducting research and teaching in social, developmental, community, cognitive, and behavioural neuroscience areas. The Department values collegiality, collaboration, and a supportive work environment.
