Position Summary: This introductory course examines current theory and practice related to mathematics education across the primary/junior grades (K to 6), with a lens of equitable and inclusive teaching practices. The focus will be on building an initial understanding of social emotional learning, lesson planning, assessment, exploring the Ontario mathematics curriculum, and inclusive teaching pedagogy. This course will build mathematical knowledge through experiences in hands-on exploration of models for the learning trajectories of fundamental concepts relating to Number and Algebra to build an understanding of research-based teaching practices in mathematics.

 

Successful candidate will work with the course lead and/or team in order to provide consistency across sections.

 

Qualifications – Required: Master’s degree in Education; Bachelor of Education and/or K – 10 Teaching Certification; Grades K-6 Ontario teaching experience in Mathematics

This appointment is in accordance with the Contract Teaching Faculty and Part-time Librarians Collective Agreement, for which the Wilfrid Laurier Faculty Association (WLUFA) is the exclusive bargaining agent.
