Position Summary: This course examines current theory and practice related to mathematics education, including planning and implementing curriculum and effective teaching and assessment strategies at the junior level (grades four to six). Strategies for using observation, inquiry, problem-solving, and ‘hands-on' exploration to support effective teaching and learning are highlighted. The course content will include an emphasis on both mathematical content and pedagogical knowledge. 


Successful candidate will work with the course lead in order to provide consistency across sections.


Qualifications – Required:  Master’s degree in education or related discipline; Bachelor of Education and/or K – 12 Teaching Certification; K – 8 teaching experience in mathematics and/or experience as a mathematics consultant at the elementary level.

Qualifications – Discipline:  Education or related content area.

Qualifications - Areas of Specialization:  Mathematics education.

Qualifications - Preferred or an asset:  Doctoral degree in education or related discipline; post-secondary teaching experience in teacher education; Teaching mathematics in Ontario schools at the primary/junior level; School leadership experience in mathematics education.

Salary: 8,414.99
