Position Summary: This course examines mathematics content taught in Ontario elementary schools with an increased focus on grades 7 to 9. Course content includes working hands-on with mathematics problems and tasks in order to support and develop personal understandings of the mathematics curriculum expectations in elementary school. The focus in this course will be the specialized content knowledge needed for teaching elementary school mathematics.

Successful candidate will work with the course lead in order to provide consistency across sections.

Assets for a successful candidate: Doctoral degree in education or related discipline; post-secondary teaching experience in teacher education; Teaching mathematics in Ontario schools at the elementary school level; School leadership experience in mathematics education

Qualifications – Required: Master’s degree in education or related discipline; Bachelor of Education and/or K – 12 Teaching Certification; K – 8 teaching experience in mathematics education and/or experience as a mathematics consultant at the elementary level
