Position Summary:

The Faculty of Music, Wilfrid Laurier University, requires part-time contract teaching faculty (CTF) to teach the course listed below in the Spring Term 2023 to be taught at the Waterloo campus. Following is a brief description of the course to indicate the content and level of difficulty. Application items below suggested as optional are strongly recommended. Inclusion and assistance is also required regarding any teaching work that follows AODA guidelines for students requiring and requesting assistance with their coursework and learning. We would be happy to provide additional information that may be required. Instructors are provided with a course syllabus by the Laurier Undergraduate Music Therapy coordinator; the inclusion of a sample syllabus as part of the application process is not necessary.

 

 

MU353: Inclusive Arts for Children – Dance Instructor

Through experiential modules in visual art, music, dance, and drama, students engage in these artistic practices while exploring the developmental relevance and therapeutic impact of children's active participation in the creative arts. Students apply their theoretical and practical learning from these modules in order to design accessible activities for, and then provide leadership at, a week-long inclusive creative arts day-camp entitled "Arts Express".

Dates of Instruction:

June 12 & 13, 2023 (6 hours total instruction)

 

Additional Administrative work: 11 hours. This dance instructor position entails 8 hours of administrative responsibilities at KidsAbility and WLU (plus 3 hours of planning meetings) for the Arts Express camp (July 4 – 7, 2023).

1-page teaching philosophy statement

 

Qualifications – Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Dance; Masters Degree preferred.

 

Qualifications – Preference: Applicants who are certified creative arts therapists, or who have leadership experience working with children with disabilities, will be given preference.

 

 

Salary: $1474.81. Administrative work during Arts Express camp week to be paid separately.
